Detailed cost estimate for the new baseball field.

Why we need it:

Norris does not have its own on – campus baseball diamond. Instead, the district contracts with the city of Hickman to use their field which is managed and owned by the town.

The Norris school district has fielded a baseball team in NSAA competition for five years now. This includes a state qualifier, a state runner-up from 2012, and the 2013 Class B state championship, with more competitive success expected!.

The team has accomplished this without having a home field here on campus. The program currently uses the Hickman Legion field. The condition of the playing surface, the location of the field in a floodplain, and the general lack of amenities at the current facility -which is not owned by Norris and which possesses some inherent deficiencies – are not to the standard of our competition. This means that Norris competes in a "home "facility that is substantially below the competitive standard established for cohort schools to which our baseball team travels on a regular basis.

How much it will cost:

The projected cost is 600K. This includes lighting, excavation, dirt work, site prep, and dugouts backstop, and bleachers.

Public use:

It is anticipated that public use of the baseball facility will be limited to Norris- area Legion teams, since the field dimensions and pitching mound will be reflective of regulation HS competition field size.
